Stephen R. Mitchell

Steve Mitchell is a specialist trauma and limb reconstruction based in Bristol, UK. His practice
includes both complex acute trauma and the salvage of trauma-related complications such as
non-union, malunion, infection and the management of bone defects, providing patient-specific
solutions utilising both internal and external methods of treatment. His elective practice is
focussed on deformity correction and limb-lengthening, managing a variety of congenital,
metabolic and acquired post-traumatic conditions. He is a member of the international lyrecognised
Orthoplastic reconstruction service in Bristol. Steve regularly teaches on both national
and international courses related to his areas of expertise. More recently he has started using VR
as both a training medium and for virtual analysis of complex deformity, and undertook the first
UK reconstructive case using a custom 3D absorbable bone defect substitute. Away from
orthopedics, he is an avid mountain biker and snowboarder.
