Trauma and Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant, Head of the Department, Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital

Dr. Sattar Alshryda is a Trauma and Paediatric Orthopaedic consultant and the Department head at Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital. He joins Mediclinic City Hospital as part of the “Al Jalila Children’s @” programme. This is a collaboration between Al Jalila Children’s Hospital and Mediclinic Middle East which aims to increase the access to specialised paediatric care for the children of the UAE, making it closer to home where possible.

Previously he was the Clinical Director for children’s Trauma and Orthopaedic department at the Royal Manchester Children Hospital, Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester and a Surgical Tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is currently the International Surgical Adviser of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the UAE. He was an executive board member of the British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery. (BSCOS) and currently the General Secretary of the Middle East Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (MEPOS). He completed a fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada in 2012, and was the SICOT-German travelling fellow in 2010. He finished a six-year Higher Surgical Training in the Northern Deanery, Newcastle, England in 2011 and a three-year Basic Surgical Training scheme at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2004. He is a regular faculty on the Royal College of Surgeons of England ATLS, CCrISP courses, APLS courses, AO courses and the Graf’s Infant Hip Course.

He has authored several textbooks and over 50 peer-reviewed articles in the field of paediatric orthopaedic surgery. A summary of his published research is available on the following link
