Oussama Chaar

Doctor Oussama obtained his MD degree from Liege University, Belgium, in 1984. He then went on to pursue a fellowship in Orthopaedics with subspeciality in joint replacement. He also obtained a diploma in Biomechanics from ULB university of Brussels and has been awarded the best scientific research by the “Lejeune et Lechien” foundation of Liege University.

For 24 years he had a highly successful career as a senior consultant in Belgium with intensive clinical activities and worked as a visitor surgeon in the Middle East. He is one of the pioneers in his field and developed his own department of joint replacement with more than 500 knee and hip replacement surgeries a year. In 2014, Dr. Oussama moved to the UAE where he practised at a key government hospital in Abu Dhabi before moving to a private hospital then to Burjeel hospital as a consultant and head of orthopaedic department. He joined Mediclinic in January 2025 to establish a specialised hip and knee centre.

Dr. Oussama is a Belgian certified orthopaedic consultant with more than 34 years of experience in his field with more than 20000 knee and hip joint replacement surgeries achieved successfully. He is an author of many publications, co-inventor of knee prosthesis and has done various research studies in different institutes in Europe.
He is an expert in complex primary joint replacement, hip and knee revision, complex pelvic fracture and bone tumour surgery, and has operated on many international patients from the Middle east, South Africa and Australia. He has long experience in total hip replacement for congenital hip dislocation and has developed his own technic without femoral shortening osteotomy.
He uses the most updated minimally invasive procedure and is familiar with navigation and robotic surgery for joint replacement. He applies his own fast track technique in knee and hip replacement since 2017 with minimal post-op pain and very quick recovery without the need of physiotherapy.
