I’m a Spinal Neurosurgeon working at Medcare Orthopedic and Spine Hospital (MOSH), in Dubai (UAE).
I had my Medical School (1987-1993), Residency in Neurosurgery (1993-1997), Master Degree (1998-1999) and PhD (2007-2009) in Brasilia, Brazil. I performed my International Fellowship in Spinal Surgery in USA (1999-2000), at the Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH), Baltimore, and at the University of Wisconsin (UW), Madison. I also had my Post-doctoral Fellow in Spinal Surgery in USA at the University of Wisconsin (2011-2012).
So, I finished my training in neurosurgery 17 years ago, and I’m practicing spinal surgery for the last 15 years, since I’ve completed my Spinal Training in USA in 2000 (JHH and UW). I’m a Professor of Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery since 08/1998 in Brazil (on work leave since 01/2013, when I moved to the Gulf area), and I was Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery (USA) since 09/2011 until 03/2015. I worked as a Consultant Neurosurgeon (Spinal Surgeon) in Riyadh, KSA, at Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital, from 01/2013 until 01/2015.
I’m currently board certified as a Neurosurgeon in Brazil, as a Consultant Neuro-Spinal Surgeon, as a Consultant Neuro-Spinal Surgeon (MOH-UAE), and as a Specialist Spinal Neurosurgeon (DHA-UAE). I’m currently member of medical societies, like: North American Spine Society (NASS – USA), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS – USA), Brazilian Spine Society (BSS), Brazilian Neurosurgical Society (SBN), Brazilian Academy of Neurosurgery (ABNC), Neurosurgical Society of Mato Grosso (vice-president – Brazil), Saudi Association of Neurological Surgery (SANS – KSA) and Pan-Arab Spine Society (PASS).
I’m a Reviewer of Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques (USA), Clinical Anatomy (USA), and Editorial Board Member of Medical Journal of Brasilia (Brazil) and Medicine Journal (USA).
